12/18/2007 "Holiday Greetings and Salivations!"

Happy (insert non-politically correct holiday of choice here) Matthew!
In Passing:  My grandmother Nana Feeney passed away Sunday night.  I thought I was crazy at the time, but the day after Thanksgiving I flew out to Boston to spend a weekend in Boston visiting with my grandparents - I almost postponed that trip til mid-January because of my crazy schedule, and now I realize how important it is to listen to your heart and what a blessing it was for me to be able to spend time with her.  I've attached a photo I took with my cell phone during my visit - Nana had suffered a stroke many years ago (I remember as a kid taking her up the stairs in a wheel chair... by myself!)... anyway, the photo is a bit blurry, but that's her smiling!... she watched my DVD of "OLIVER" and commented throughout (she didn't like Bill Sykes, "he was mean") and when the dance routines came on, she put out her arms to dance... and when the movie was finally over, she immediately asked to see it again, so we sat and watched it all over again!  She loved watching the little kids singing and dancing (and maybe my singing and dancing too!) and it was just awesome to see her so happy... she was a very special woman and I'll miss her dearly, but I feel good knowing she's flying on her own now! :)

WCCO's Out-n-About with RJ Fritz
RJ is on vacation, so I was asked to host his "Out and About" Christmas Special which will air late on Christmas Eve (11:30pm on Channel 4, WCCO)... might replay other times, check listings... it's actually "Santa" who is hosting, but you should be able to recognize me by my rose colored glasses!  And earlier in the month I played Santa at the John Trones/Jim Brickman Christmas concert - what a great time!... thanks to those who came to see the show, and special thanks to Barb Gawtry for some last minute, late-night emergency Santa Boot repairs!

Santa Visits
I still have some times open for home/office/party visits... personal home visits are $75 (I can deliver smaller presents for ya, have customized insider info about the child's behavior and what needs improving, etc etc!)... Office/Corporate visits start at $150, great for roasting your boss or co-workers at the office holiday party (I did one last year where the boss STILL doesn't know which employee set him up!). I also try to do a few pro-bono (free) visits a year, especially if it's near a paid & scheduled booking - so if you'd like a home Santa visit but the only thing holding you back is the cost, please send me an email and we'll see if we can work something out!

Sample Night Live
Starting in January, I'll be the regular host/MC for Sample Night Live at Bryant Lake Bowl.  This is a Vaudeville style variety show of the highest caliber, check out www.samplenightlive.com for more info!  Shows are every first Wednesday of the month (I'll be missing Feb because I'll be in Florida with my friend David celebrating his graduation!).

Applause Community Theatre - best Actor award
Two weeks ago I was the host/MC for the Applause Community Theatre "Academy Awards" program... and amazingly brought home a "Best Actor" trophy for my performance in A KIDS SUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (this was the show we performed at MACT fest last spring, where the show won numerous awards, including an "Excellence in Performing" to Angie Baumgartner (for the role of PUCK) and myself (for BOTTOM).  I've even named my new orange tabby cat "Oscar" (seriously!).  So it's been a good year acting wise for me!

Acting/Movie Updates
In the last month I did a few little projects, including a Jimmy John's Subway commercial (I haven't seen it yet, but it'll be the one with the family of Red Heads in the minivan and at the soccer game)... wrapped a Feature Film "Why Am I In A Box" (www.silent-but-deadly-productions.com), got offered a role in the SAG indie film WILDFIRE (www.wildfirefilm.com), did the extras casting and rented the police trooper uniform for a national Cenex Commercial (see the spots at www.cenex.com - I actually made call backs for the trooper role, but as you can see, another actor got that role!).  The feature film I helped cast and produce, FALL INTO ME (www.fallintome.com) was released on DVD December 5th and got reviewed by the NY Times (http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/423608/Fall-Into-Me/overview).  You can purchase it at any major on-line retailer like target.com, amazon.com, etc etc - and you can even rent it through NetFlix or Blockbuster.com! (I'm in charge of distributing 400 DVD's to all the cast/extras and sponsors, so if you were involved and need your free DVD, talk to me!). FOR A LIST OF WAYS TECHNOLOGY HAS FAILED TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE, PLEASE PRESS 3 ("please press 3" for short!) is a short movie (with a long title) I did awhile back that just got accepted into the Durango Film Festival and will be airing on Minnesota Public Television on Sunday, December 23rd at 10pm, and 12/29 at 10pm.  And I just wrapped up teaching a 10 week course in Acting for the Directors at BRAINCO school...

Walden Entertainment
Walden is specializing in professional Extras Casting for commercial work, but we also do principle casting for indie films, rent camera/microphone equipment and now police uniforms!  I'm working on trying to find distribution for several other films I've been involved with, so perhaps distribution will become a new revenue stream also!  And I'm doubling my office space already!  I need more storage space because Walden's police uniform rental business is taking off rather well (some weeks I make more money renting cop uniforms than I do acting!) and I'm starting to spend a lot more time at the office and will be needing additional computer/office for my assistants/interns to work at.  For those who have visited my office, don't get confused by the second door - my suite number is staying the same and the two offices are joined by an inner door... I also took a 10 week Fast Track/New Ventures business class at the University of Saint Thomas and am really ready to put some of those great ideas into practice - so business is gonna start booming!   Gift baskets will be going out with some goodies and updated marketing info before January 1st.

Halloween Party 2007-2008
There was a professional photographer at the Halloween party who snapped some photos... they can be viewed online at http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/3723754#214235397 and you can even order prints (with all proceeds going to the Long Yang Club of Minnesota, of which I'm a member!)... and save Saturday, October 25th, 2008 for next year's big Halloween Bash!

American Patriot Riders
Because I'm bored and don't have anything to do, I joined the American Patriot Riders... we stand in a flag line at funerals not only for fallen servicemen but also police, firefighters and EMTs. Anyone interested in joining, check out www.americanpatriotriders.org - oh, and does anyone know any good motorcycle mechanics?  I need a good tune-up this Spring if I'm gonna be doing more riding this year!

Professional emailer program
I use a software program called GROUPMAIL (www.group-mail.com) to send out these Newsletters... I just received a notice that I'm eligible to receive 1 complimentary license of GroupMail5 Personal edition to do with as I choose... the value of this Personal Edition version is $139.95. They have a watered-down "free" version also, and a souped up $349 business version (that's what I use). You can get a free trial of their programs to check it out and see if you like it... but if anyone is interested in buying the Personal Edition version from me, make me an offer and it's yours (must be done by December 31st).

Stuff For Sale
I'm trying to simplify my life (a la Henry David Thoreau)... well more like since building my home theater, I've found I haven't used the TV entertainment center in my loft once in the last year, and thus am offering the following items for sale (just in time for Christmas!):
        SAMSUNG 32" television
Toshiba SD6109-C Integrated dvd player/5.1 surround sound/amplifier with FM radio (http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-SD6109C-Player-50-Watt-Receiver/dp/B00000J3OK)
beautiful wood TV cabinet for above TV, includes glass doors and dvd cabinet on side.
        Toshiba M675 4-head HiFi VCR
XBox 360 game system (with 20GB hard drive, negotiable accessories and games).
Best reasonable cash offer or will consider barter for goods/services.  All items are in perfect working order and awesome products - infact, I loved the Toshiba SD6109C so much that I have two of these systems - and I'm keeping the other one as my primary surround sound entertainment system in the living room! And no, I'm not giving up my Xbox addiction, I just somehow ended up acquiring FOUR of these 360 systems (it's a long story!) and can easily get by with 2 or 3... :)

Townhouse for Sale
Not mine... but my cousin Rob has got his 2BR/2BA townhouse for sale in Chanhassen, $169,000, MLS#: 3474655.  If you happen to be in the market, drop my name and I get a very small referral fee if you buy it!

Well, you can probably see why I didn't have time to get a November newsletter out, but hope to see ya next year!

9/12/2007  "September Morn..."

Wow, we're halfway through September and I'm just now getting around to my monthly update (you are receiving this because you are in my PERSONAL address book - if you wish to be removed from further emails, just REPLY to let me know and Guido and I will take care of ya... :)

HALLOWEEN X

Save the date: Saturday October 27th from 6pm-2am for the 10th Annual Halloween Party Extravaganza at my house!  Evites will be going out shortly, PLEASE PLEASE respond to the Evite (even if it's to say "no") so that we have a fairly accurate head count for food!  If you don't know what Evite is, GET TO KNOW IT, it's an awesome (and free) internet based RSVP system...

AUTOGRAPH SALE

News of the weird: my autographed headshot appeared on Ebay (the seller is from Louisiana!) along with a collection of 13 other REAL celebrities!  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290151381592&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1  Betcha wished you had bid, eh?

IN THE NEWS

We've just about wrapped the feature film HEALTH FREAKS and we got interviewed by the New Ulm Press while on location last Sunday - nice little article will be on-line until Monday can be read at http://www.nujournal.com/include/articles.asp?articleID=8846 Of other note, Lloyd Kaufman (president of TROMA films) will have a cameo appearance in this film, although Ron Jeremy's cameo got axed by the Producer (the good news is I now have Ron Jeremy's personal cell phone number and would love to book him in another indie film, I've been told he's a great guy and fun to work with!)

SANTA CLAUS

Not too early to think about home Santa Visits and Corporate office parties (either as Santa or if you're looking for a comedian, I know a funny guy...)  And speaking of Santa, I'd HIGHLY recommend you save Sunday, December 2nd for the faaaabulous John Trones Christmas Concert (with the talented Jim Brickman and myself as Santa!).  Tickets aren't on sale yet, but save the date, it is absolutely the best Christmas concert of the season...

ACTING UPDATES

The acting is going great, within the last 3 weeks I've shot 2 TV commercials and 4 movies and did a stand-up comedy performance... I shoot another 3 movie projects this month and have been cast in several additional movies and have several premieres coming up... but most importantly, I've been doing a TON of work as Casting Director (and extras casting director and extras wrangler and whatever else needs to be done to earn a buck on a movie set!)  Just wrapped up principle casting for WILDFIRE (a feature film being done by Mean Alien (www.meanalient.com)  with potential distribution through Buena Vista!) and I've handled extras casting for several major TV commercials... if you're interested in receiving notices to be an extra (some of them pay rather well!), sign up at www.matthewfeeney.com  I'm also teaching a Cold Reading class with Lev Mailer (www.levmailer.com) on Sunday, September 30th - we still have room in the class if you're interested, cost is a mere $50 for the class!  And starting January 2nd I'll be hosting a new "Vaudeville Style" stage every first Wednesday throughout 2008, so stay tuned for further details!

DATING UPDATE

Despite having a very special friend, I'm still very single and wanting to change that!  I've become a very active member of the Primetimers Group and Long Yang Club (and made some GREAT friends in both!) and continue my participation with the Bears club and try to hit 3-for-1 Happy Hour at the Eagle on Friday nights when I can... but the $1000.00 cash offer for the person who introduces me to the guy I date for 6 months still stands... so think of your best single gay friends you can bring with you to my Halloween Party, and feel free to invite me "out" and about anytime!!  FYI:  My "type" is based on personality more than anything - the guy has to be nice, honest, pursuing their passions, etc etc - and probably between the ages of 18 and 65 (tho I met a VERY charming 70 year old man today at lunch!).  And if I don't find a man soon, I'll start considering dates with girls.  :)

Well, that's all for now - hope to see most of you at Halloween!

Hugs!

8/3/2007 "Extras, Extras!"

Quick clarification: my Fringe Festival play is opening tonight, but tonight is NOT the only night to see it, there are a total of 5 performances... www.everydayseduction.com lists all times/dates of my show.

If you've ever wanted to be in the movies, NOW is the perfect time!  My company Walden Entertainment is doing more and more EXTRAS casting (which means no acting experience required!)... I have over 700 people on my Extras Casting list, but we're still running out of people (and more really big projects are on the horizon - some of them even paid!)... SOOOOO.... it would really help me out if you'd simply visit my web page at www.matthewfeeney.com and follow the link to sign up for the audition lists... it's really simple and it REALLY helps me out having a larger pool of people to respond... feel free to pass that web address on to friends and family - you'll simply receive notices of extras casting opportunities, no obligation and no salesperson will call... just respond when/if you're able.  Simple (and fun!) and once again, it would really help me out!

One specific movie project we're still needing a lot of extras for is a fun and campy blood n guts movie called HEALTH FREAKS (I am one of the main actors, and there will be special cameo appearances by Lloyd Kaufman and Ron Jeremy!)... There's only 10 days left of shooting, so if you're interested in being contacted to be an extra in an upcoming shoot, please email healthfreaks@walden-entertainment.com with your NAME, TELEPHONE NUMBER and BRIEF DESCRIPTION ("30 yo white female" would suffice).  One of my assistants will email or call you back with dates and times of our openings!

And while I'm at it, SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, October 27th, for my annual Halloween Costume Party!

THANKS EVERYONE!

8/1/2007 Fringe Festival (mini-update!)

Hey Gang!

NEW SOFTWARE FOR NEWSLETTERS

First of all, I'm trying a new "GroupMail" software for my monthly Newsletter... hopefully it'll work slick and save me a ton of time - let me know if this is NOT your preferred e-mail address and/or if you wish to be removed from my personal address book!

FRINGE FESTIVAL SHOW

My fringe festival show opens this Friday... a group of students from Sandra Horner's class decided we liked our scenes soooo much we created a Fringe Show with 3 of our favorites... So 6 of us are performing 3 unrelated scenes - while I'm only in 1 scene, my role was played by John Lithgow on Broadway and I think it's worth the price of admission, trust me!  Performances are at Patrick's Cabaret in Minneapolis, tickets are $12 (plus a $3 fringe button, unless you already have one!)  www.everydayseduction.com has more info on our show!

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAMS

I'm doing some scouting for a TV commercial that is going to need a High School Football Team to be extras in the background.  Shooting is scheduled for August 15th and would take place on location at the school's own field... we need a school large enough to provide 2 teams on the field and some others on the sidelines... the school would get paid $2,000 for a half-days work - great fundraiser for the team (beats the heck out of car washes!).  I have several schools already "pre-qualified" but if you have a contact at a school that you'd like to be considered, please send me an e-mail with their contact info ASAP!

I hope everyone's safe from London Bridges (coincidence, exactly 1 week ago on last Wednesday afternoon I programmed the 35W bridge as an "Avoidance" in my GPS due to construction traffic that made me late for 2 meetings that day... Guess us actors do have good timing...)

Well, that's all for now... hope you're staying cool this summer...

Ecuador Clown Trip

Sorry for the delay, many of you have asked about my trip to Ecuador and this could be a book in and of itself.  Short synopsis is this was simply the most amazing experience of my lifetime (and I've had a helluva lot of cool experiences!). As a foreword: I went into this trip just a few days after the death of my 17 year old dog Bailey, and the first morning after we arrived in Ecuador I received an email that my dear friend Bob Webster had passed away the night before (we had a great visit and said our goodbyes the week before, but this really hit me hard as this is truly the first death of a peer I've been faced with).  So that was the baggage I was bringing with me... But air travel in clown gear isn't as bad as I thought it would be and TSA agents do have some sense of humour. at least the ones who got stuck dealing with me!  I met up with the rest of the group at the Miami airport (it wasn't hard to spot each other!).  We had 28 clowns from 8 countries on the trip, plus the dozens of local clown hosts who joined up with us. our bus in Quito was driven by a uniformed police officer with 2 other armed officers riding shotgun in the front of the bus, in front we had a motorcycle cop and we were followed by a pickup truck with 3-4 plainclothes Secret Service men. knowing how I love cops, we got along very well and we exchanged "pins" with several of them!  We visited several hospitals, schools, nursing homes, infectious disease centers and of course, interacted with all the people in between, before and after our "official" visits...

Stories of exceptional note were the burn ward where I met an 11 year old boy who had his arm amputated from a burn caused when his kite got stuck in a power line - and he told us the day after our visit was his 12th birthday (he also got a pin from me!).  Then there was 15 day old baby who was in the burn ward for an unknown skin condition (not burns, but in the ward for infection control) - the mother had been abandoned by her family, was depressed, wouldn't stop crying and hadn't eaten in days (and was breast feeding). The nurse told her "Doctor Clown" was ordering her to eat so from that point, the mother was my patient and by the end of the visit, she had given me 2 huge hugs and a brief smile.  I gave her one of my signature teddy bears to keep her company, but that she had to share the bear with the baby when the baby was old enough to appreciate it!).  I left my card with many people, but she's the one I wonder about the most. Then there was the blind boy who was intrigued by my beard (I am guessing that just like in the US, most teachers - especially teachers of special needs children - are female and thus this was a totally new experience for him).  Anyway, he spent 30 minutes grabbing my beard, rubbing his face in my beard, giggling, pulling it away and starting all over again.  I have never seen someone so intrigued by the simple touch of a beard, but he was laughing and laughing and I kept making Raspberries and it was a very magical and intimate time.

Then there was the gal who was "hopeless" (what they call terminal) in the infectious disease ward. My partner clown was fluent in Spanish and asked if I wanted him to translate, but I said no, sometimes it's simpler to just "be" there for someone instead of letting words get in the way.  So I talked to her in English knowing she didn't understand what I was saying, and held her hand and was just there for her.  Then I stepped aside to allow the other clown some time to interact with her. she spoke to him in Spanish and he turned to me and said she was requesting that I continue to speak to her.

in English!  I was surprised because I didn't realize she understood any English. so he questioned her and then told me that she DIDN'T speak or understand any English, but she loved the sound of my voice and wanted to hear me talk.  So I told stories of my life.  I spoke of the cold and snow in Minnesota, how we were the land of 10,000 lakes and how beautiful the sunsets in the north woods were. but that none were ever as beautiful as she was - and that from now on, whenever I saw a sunset, I would think of her.

and then I gave her a bear so she could remember the Oso from Minnesota.

And the most powerful experience of all was after interacting with a school of children with Down's Syndrome, to have them come out and do a dance for us - and one of them recognized me and blew me a kiss in the middle of the dance routine. they were just so HAPPY that I was overcome with their sheer love and joy and simply couldn't stop crying.  I have never cried from joy before, and it's an amazing memory I'll never forget.  There are literally dozens of similar stories that are just as powerful. and it wasn't just the patients, the other clowns were all amazing and I'm humbled to be able to call any of them my friends. the intensity of living and working in such close proximity and sharing such powerful experiences really bonds a group

together.   I drank 70 cent beers with most of the clowns. I met the most

fantastic (and terribly cute!) lesbian couple. I became friends with a New York actress (we led the group in singing Broadway Musicals in the middle of the airport!) and smoked Hookah with a crazy clown named Lars.  I roomed with an older clown named "Fungus" and discussed poetry and philosophy with a young clown named "Flappage".  I got to shake hands and give my business card to the Vice President of Ecuador (he's in a wheel chair and very handsome!).  I gave away my good pipe to one of my favorite clowns (and now a dear friend).  When I tell people of my trip, most ask what Patch Adams was like and my answer is: he's an amazing man with a great dream. but the real power of Patch is in the people he inspires to join him in these love visits. we were ALL "Patch Adams" - the patients we met didn't care if we were "Patch" or famous or poor or young or old or spoke Spanish or whatever

- they just appreciated and accepted each of us for who we were because we were there to love them.  It was an honor to have been invited into their lives, for however briefly, and I know that I am forever changed because of it.  Patch does several such trips every year and while I'd love to go on the Russian trip this November, finances will probably preclude that option, but I'll be saving up for next year's trip back to Ecuador, and I highly encourage any of you who have ever thought of doing something meaningful with your life to consider joining me on one of these trips. I guarantee you it's an experience you'll never forget.  Oh, and since a picture is worth a thousand words, you can check out our group's photos at http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb15/Clowning_2007/

Fourth of July Fireworks

Meanwhile, back in the States and a little more recently, I lit off some impressive firework over the Fourth this year at the cabin, including a 36 shot heavy-duty piece that was so powerful it actually SHIFTED after about the 6th shot. to point directly at the dock (and the 2 boats etc!).

Watching 30 exploding rockets bounce off the canvas roof of a Shore Station is quite scary, but the true irony of the evening came when I heard someone shout "The flag is on fire!" - I looked up and sure enough, one of the charges nicked the US flag flying 20 feet above the dock and by the time the firework was done and I made it down to the dock, the flag was completely in flames.  Brought new meaning to the verse ".by the rocket's red glare. with bombs bursting in air." and a Fourth of July I'll never forget!

Latest Kitty Cat

I've adopted a third cat, the most mellow, laid back and affectionate feline I have EVER met in my entire life. and the only cat I've ever owned who plays "fetch" like a dog!  OSCAR is a 1 year old male and is a GREAT playmate for Oliver (and my older Ariel not only gets along great with him, but she really appreciates no longer having to suffer through being Oliver's play toy!)

Stimulus

The movie STIMULUS can now be ordered on DVD at www.stimulusmovie.com/store <http://www.stimulusmovie.com/store>  - I play a small role of Televangelist Rev. Buddy Baker (who the star is watching on TV), but my "complete" TV sermon is on the special features section of the DVD!

Other project updates

I've wrapped HARROWVILLE. HEALTH FREAKS is starting production in 2 weeks (I did the Casting as well as Executive Producing and acting in it). We taped a preliminary scene of WHY AM I IN A BOX with Larry Laverty (a talented actor from LA and one of the few people I know who has WAY more IMDB.com credits than myself!).  I just held auditions for a Voice Over industrial spot for Director Nick Kapanke.  I've been cast in several smaller roles in other films over the summer and have 2 auditions tomorrow for commercial jobs.

I'm working on a Fringe Festival show and I did some private acting coaching of a very talented young girl who went on to win 2nd runner-up in the Junior Miss acting pageant!  I'm also exploring the possibility of branching out into booking high profile individuals for national gigs (comedy, music, motivational speaking etc etc) and I hope to be doing even more Casting and Extras Casting for Minnesota based movies. if you want to get on the email lists, just go to www.matthewfeeney.com and follow the links (please note:

we're transferring things from Walden Enterprises to Walden Entertainment and so if the links for the list aren't working just check back in a day or two!. and of course, all of this is so that I can do more of what I love to do... ACT!

Other ways to stay in touch with me: AIM, MSN, Y!, and Xbox Live handles are all LONERANGER068.  MySpace and Facebook are MatthewFeeney.

And despite having a very dear and special friendship with someone very close to me, I'm still very much "single" and actively looking... So please keep me in mind when your other friends are lamenting the fact they're single too!  You too can play Yenta the Matchmaker and earn big bucks and my eternal gratitude!  I have listed "getting out" and socializing as a priority, so feel free to contact me for last second invites - despite my busy schedule, if I'm free, I love those sort of impromptu shindigs!

And just for fun:

Anyone tired of the corporate grind might get a kick outta this.

That's all for now. thanks for reading - and as always, if you wish to be removed from my personal address book so as not to receive these updates, just let me know!

Just a reminder about the HARRY PUTTER (www.harryputtermovie.com) premiere 7pm tonight, Friday, May 4th,at Minnehaha Academy, 3100 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN. Admission is free. This is a 15 minute short film, but we'll also be screening some outtakes and behind the scenes footage, but we should be out of the theater by 8pm for those of you with young kids and/or who need to get home early!  If you want to stay out a little later, you're invited to an informal cast & crew party following the screening a few blocks away at the director's house (BYO-Everything... no alcohol or smoking allowed).  DVDs will be available for both pickup (FREE for cast & crew & extras) and purchase (for our fans in the general public).

Sweetland Saturday

Anyone interested going to a private screening of SWEETLAND (www.sweetlandmovie.com) with me at 10:30am Saturday MORNING in Eagan?  This movie stars Alan Cumming and Ned Beatty etc... oh, and yes, I was in several scenes, but to the best of my knowledge my scenes got cut (hopefully it'll appear on the bonus deleted scene section of the DVD!).  Director Ali Selim will be there too (Ali graduated from Saint Thomas Academy 7 years in front of me, but came back and filmed a documentary while I was a student there - thus my VERY FIRST FILM CREDIT was an Ali Selim film!).  This screening is FREE, but you must contact me ASAP so I can get your name on the guest list!

Office Update

Walden Entertainment is moving down to 1st floor (suite 157 I believe... tho the word "suite" is definitely an exaggeration... I've stayed in jail cells bigger than this!)... the good news is for auditions we'll be given access to other open office spaces within the building... one of my interns is working on some web content for Walden, but it's not up yet (my fault, not his!)... but stay tuned!

Health Insurance

From an email I sent out several months ago I received several referrals about affordable health insurance for us "self-employed" types... More than a few of you have contacted me asking if I found anyone... well, after reviewing and talking to several agents, I found a GREAT (and very affordable) resource, Kathleen Hall at Envision Healthcare.  Phone 952-854-5054 and email is kathy@envisionhealthcare.com.  She set me up through Blue Cross/Blue Shield with a high deductible policy (but which includes yearly physicals etc at 100% coverage) and a Health Savings Account etc for about 1/4 the price of continuing with COBRA...

Vet

Oliver wasn't broken, but she's now fixed!  After calling around to various vets and getting quotes around $500-600 for spay/declaw/shots, I found a GREAT place in Amery Wisconsin that did everything for $192!  (One vet wanted $90 for the rabies shot, this place charged $12!).  It's a long drive, but I saved $400 and they were GREAT to work with, wonderful facility and I would highly recommend them to any fellow pet owners!  Oliver's very glad to be back home and is doing well!

IM and such

Lastly, if you do instant messaging or gaming, I'm "LoneRanger068" on every major chat client and X Box live... and I do have a MySpace and Facebook account (both "MatthewFeeney").

Okay, now I guess I gotta go into work and start moving my desk and boxes down to my new office space.  Oh what fun.  NOT.

As always, if you wish to be removed from my personal address book so you don't receive these notices, just let me know!

"You are what you love, not what loves you." Adaptation (film)

4/23/2007 mini-updates

A couple of quick notes and updates that can't wait till next month:

Treasure Island this Friday!

My dear friend David Kilpela is coming into town this weekend to celebrate his birthday... his mother and I have got a busy weekend planned for him, but I'd like to invite YOU to help us celebrate by joining us on Friday, April 27th at Treasure Island Casino!  Cake & Ice Cream at my house at 7pm, carpool leaving my house around 8pm... you can also caravan or just meet us at TI anytime... RSVP only for cake or carpool - else just meet us at the Island!  We'll meet around 9pm in the Parlay Lounge to listen to "The Power of 10" (NO COVER CHARGE, but 21 and over only allowed in the lounge), sit around the fireplace, have a drink and maybe make a charitable donation to the slot machine owners...

Ecuador Clown Trip!

A friend forwarded me an email about Patch Adams (the REAL one upon whom the movie with Robin Williams was based!) and his clown ministry trips... Having been President of the Christian Clowns back in College, it looked interesting, so I followed the link to Patch's web page, read more about their past trips, sent an email inquiring about future trips, and within 1 hour received a reply they had room on their upcoming trip to Ecuador on May 31st... by the end of the day I had purchased my airplane ticket and WOW, I'm going on a trip of a lifetime!  http://www.patchadams.org/clown_trips/ecuador07.html for more info - BTW: they still have room available, so anyone else interested in joining me on this crazy trip, feel free to hop along!

Valley Fair Day!

A group of us are going to Valley Fair on May 12th to celebrate Zach Panzer's Birthday!  Everyone is free to join us, meet at the front gate at 9:30am or call me when you get there!

Update on X Box for the Troops

Actress Jean Anderson was the only person responding to the donation request to send an X Box entertainment system to our friend Dan Dyke in Iraq...and we also found out Dan's coming home in a few months... so instead of buying Dan a new system, we're going to ship over my spare X Box 360 and some games for him to use for the duration... their 1SG has a tv all ready for it, and I hope to get it out to him in the next week!

SCI-FI Broadcast

PLEASE PRESS 3 broadcast on Sci-Fi channel has been rescheduled, with the tentative new dates (also subject to change) currently being 5/20 11pm; 5/22 7:30am and 5/25 2am.

Here we are once again with Matthew's latest newsletter... As usual if not interested in receiving these, just simply reply back asking me to remove you from my address book...

HARRY PUTTER SCREENING MAY 4th

Please join me for the World Premiere of "Harry Putter and the Sorcerer's Phone", a comedic mockumentary short about the life of the "real"

boy, Harry Putter, upon whom the famous books and movies were based.  Harry Putter was produced by yours truly and written and directed by my friend Jeremy Gustafson and came about due to the help and support of many of you!

The screening will start at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 4th, 2007, at the Minnehaha Academy Theater, 3100 West River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN, and will be followed by a cast and crew meet and greet. Admission is FREE and it's very kid friendly, so invite all your family and friends! DVDs will also be for sale at the screening and there will be a party following the screening a few blocks away at the director's house.  You can watch the trailer on the Harry Putter website, www.harryputtermovie.com.

PLEASE PRESS THREE (aka "for a list of ways technology has failed to improve our life") Thanks to all of you who voted for "Please Press Three..." on the Sci-Fi/Sundance web sites, we WON!  Yes, this short film I appear in will be broadcast on NATIONAL television (Sci Fi Channel) on Sunday , April 22nd at 11pm, April 26th at 7:30pm and April 28th at 2am (all times CST).

Apparently there is still a "vote" going on to take this to the NEXT level, so please check out www.scifi.com/exposure (we're listed as week 6 winner) the week of the airing for a new election and vote again (and feel free to pass it on!).  This film will also be screening at Bryant-Lake Bowl in Minneapolis next Wednesday, April 18th, at 7pm. The 8 minute version of ".Please Press Three" (the one that's on scifi.com) is screening as part of IFP's Cinema Lounge, and the director will be doing some Q&A after the film.

The doors open at 6pm, and there's usually schmoozing at the bar afterwards.

MEMORIZING DATES

Another indie film I appeared in just got accepted into the CU Film Festival and will screen next month (cufilmfest.com/films/memorizing_dates.html)

MACT-Festival in Willmar

After over 10 years of participating in the Minnesota Association of Community Theater 1-Act Festival, I was awarded the prestigious "Excellence in Acting Award" for my performance as Bottom in "A Kid's Summer Night's Dream!"  (we also won at BEST ENSEMBLE award and Puck won an Acting award

also!!) This award was quite an honor for me, but I must add that I increased my chances of being noticed by participating in a record breaking THREE shows at MACT this year (2 out of 14 advance to the regional's) so I did have the odds in my favor... The one show (Sweet Charities THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND) I played a dead body laying on stage for a full hour, and as luck would have it, that show DID go on to win "Best of Festival" (they were brilliant!) so they'll be performing in Kansas City later this month (and they were gracious enough to invite me to join them - I had to decline due to previous commitments!).  Funny thing is, in all three shows this year I died (or passed out) on stage - not sure what that says, but I'm glad I didn't win the acting award for the dead body role!  Oh, and ask me to tell relate my "Beer Can Story" - as Rohan Preston from the Star Tribune said "I'll never look at a beer can quite the same way..." (and the reason I absolutely love live theater!).

OFFICE SPACE

Indiewood (the film company I sublease my office from) is opening an office in Los Angeles - but that unfortunately means they're downsizing their office space here in Minnesota... So we're looking at several different office options (still within this building) and would potentially have room for additional people who might be looking for a private office space.  If interested and want to look around, please contact me ASAP as we'll probably be making a decision by the end of the month and the space we select will depend on who we have on board.  We'd also be open to considering OTHER office space in the Metro area if you're in the corporate real estate business and know any inexpensive space available...

COLLEGE CONSULTANTS

I know many of you have college aged children (or will have shortly...

Cripes, I'm getting old!) - if you want to explore some special funding options, please contact my friend Gary Geiken at 952-212-6929 for a no cost/no obligation consultation.

XBOX 360 FOR DA TROOPS

My dear actor friend Dan Dyke is currently stationed in Iraq and I get his regular newsletter updates and I put those together with an article I read in a gaming magazine about how the troops love playing video games to help pass the time and I thought WOW, that's cool!  So unbeknownst to Dan, I contacted his company 1st Sgt and have made preliminary arrangements to send a very cool "care package" to Dan that the 1st Sgt will set up in a public lounge area for everyone to enjoy (and Dan gets lots of Kudos and brownie points and attention from the other troops for sharing!)... I'm even going to preload the WaZoo! Show on the Hard Drive (Dan appears in most of the skits in the 1st episode!).  IF YOU CARE TO HELP ME WITH THIS GIFT, there are several things you can do... You can donate any old X Box or Xbox 360 games to send along... Or you can purchase any new 360 game (retail $59.00)... Or you can make a cash donation to help cover the cost of the game system ($399 plus tax) and shipping (?$?)... OR you can send electronic donations to me via paypal (mdf@walden-entertainment.com - just put DAN DYKE in the subject) or paper donations snail mailed to me via PO Box 7401, Saint Paul, MN 55107.  If we don't raise enough money, I'm still doing this and will simply pay the difference (remember I'm "self-employed" right now!).

If we raise over the cost of the system, I'll just buy some cooling fans and additional games to send along... Everyone who contributes any amount (or old games) will have their name added to the gift card... If your company has a product you'd like to include in this entertainment care package, let me know... And to my friends at Microsoft - can you get us a discount?  :)

ACTING GIGS

Please remember me for any sort of performance, stand-up comedy, corporate training, improv, teaching, ACTING, movie production, emcee, casting, TV commercials, and any other such related and sundry jobs that may require the use of my talents... Doing this for a living means I have a lot of time available and need every odd job I can pick up (I'm even resorting to the occasional home computer repair job!).

PLANNING AHEAD

This summer I'm looking for some out-state acting opportunities (stage or indie film).  For other fun, stay tuned for details on an Apple River Tubing trip, X-Box Live LAN party, Paintballing, fishing excursions, Valley Fair (I bought a season pass!) and other impromptu events and parties that may pop up!  Oh, and yes, I'm still single, so please feel free to set me up with all your single friends...

Til Next Time!

2/8/2007  "Brrrrr... updates from Minnesooooda!"

(Please note these newsletter updates are written in 3rd person as they get posted “as is” on my web site – but they’re still written by little ole me… and as always, if you’d prefer not to receive these email updates, just let me know and you’ll be removed from my mailing list!)  And yes, I mucked up again and originally sent this from my work account which has a 50 person limit, so that means 50 of you will receive this email twice… my bad!

TV COMMERCIALS

Matthew has shot 3 other TV commercials since the Edge Water Park one, the latest commercial is attached for your viewing pleasure (should be on the air shortly!).  Some more recent auditions and production meetings in the last week went well, so hopefully additional work will keep pouring in!

Matthew is currently doing 3 theater shows…

KID’S SUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

The first show opens this weekend and is a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic love story.  Matthew plays Bottom, the really bad actor who gets turned into a donkey by the mischievous Puck…  8pm show on Feb 9, 16, 17, 2pm matinee show on Feb 11th and 18th.  DINNERS available for Saturday night show and BRUNCH is available for Sunday shows – call the Lakeville Area Arts Center at 952-985-4640 for more info and ticket reservations (advance reservations required for meals, not required for “show only” tickets).  www.applausecommunitytheatre.com  Possible additional show on March 28th.

SAY GOODBYE TO WINNE DIXIE

This show is the Corcoran Park Player’s original comedy called SAY GOODBYE TO WINN-DIXIE where Matthew plays Buddy, the Southern red-neck good-ole boy drunk who loves picking on the uppity neighbor lady while earning points to get to heaven.  Probable shows March 16, 17 and 18th… please visit my website at www.matthewfeeney.com for confirmation of show times/locations.

MACT 1-Act FESTIVAL

Both of the above shows will be performed at the MACT Festival in Willmer MN on Saturday, March 31st (coincidentally, out of a dozen shows, the two shows Matthew’s in happened to draw back to back performance time slots, giving Matthew about 5 minutes in between performances for a quick costume change before jumping back on stage!)

AMERICAN ORGANIC

This is an original piece by David O’Sullivan that takes place in the dressing room during the closing night of a community theater’s production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN…Performance dates are April 20, 21 and 22nd and 27,28, 29th – further performance details will be posted on my web page soon.

TEACHING

Matthew is back teaching again – he just taught a great class last month with Lev Mailer (www.levmailer.com) on Cold Reading for Auditions… On March 3rd and 4th he’s teaching 2 private classes entitled “The Casting Process: from Breakdowns to the Premiere” at his Walden Office in Bloomington, and on March 29th at 2pm he’ll be teaching a workshop on COMEDY at the MACT Festival in Willmer and on April 15th he’ll be teaching another class with Lev Mailer in Edina… it’s fun AND it helps pay the bills!  Notices for these classes go out to the audition lists – if you’re interested, get on the lists at www.matthewfeeney.com!

MORRIS PARK PLAYERS FUNDRAISER

Matthew will be the host/MC for the Morris Park Players annual fundraiser on Saturday, Feb 24th.  Get your tickets now for a great and entertaining evening! http://www.morrisparkplayers.org/support/giving.asp for more info and tickets.

MOVIE PRODUCTION

Matthew is working on producing an original full length feature film with strong religious overtures – a Jesus like character appears as a crazy homeless person – but who is he really?  Anyone interested in investing as a producer in this very special project, please let me know… very low budget, so small investors are welcome… I’m also working on a few other indie films (features and shorts) if those are more your style… so if you’ve got some Tax Refunds burning a hole in your pocket and you’d like to become a movie producer, talk to me and we’ll find a fit!

DEMONTREVILLE

Matthew has gone on a silent retreat at Demontreville almost every year since he was 17… even tho you can’t talk, it’s much more fun going with friends… so anyone interested, the weekend he’s looking at going this year is Thursday May 31st through Sunday, June 3rd.  Anyone care to join?  Email Matthew now!  http://www.jesuitswisprov.org/demontreville.html

RACQUETBALL

My regular racquetball partner hurt his back shoveling (that’s when I love living in a Town House!) and so if anyone wants to play with me – cost is $2.13 guest fee and I’m pretty available during the days – play at Maplewood Community Center… let me know, I’m getting lazy and I need more exercise!  And the offer still stands for people to take me running or working out with them – I need the motivation of another person holding me responsible, so feel free to jump in anytime!

UPCOMING MOVIE PREMIERES

(please note that Matthew is unable to attend either premiere because of performance conflicts, but you’re welcome to check ‘em out!)

DECEMBER 2006 UPDATES:

Walden Entertainment - By all accounts my job at Walden Entertainment is going very well... (see picture)

.

Need I say more?  Whoever said that acting was glamorous?  Last month I spent an all nighter locked in a Target Store and at 4am all of us actors crashed on the dog beds in the pet isle… seriously.  What happened to “I’ll be waiting in my trailer?”  Oh well, I’m having fun!  (the photo was actually taken on set of KARMA, a short film in which I play a drunk Irishman street person).

SANTA - I’ve had lots of Santa gigs this year, but still have time and room for more… if you or anyone you know needs a Santa for a in-home visit or corporate gig, just let me know ASAP… Santa visits normally go for $100-150/hour but I’m do mine for $75/hour for home visits (more for corporate/company gigs)… and I’ve been playing Santa for over 21 years now (started when I was 17!)… still getting used to having to use a pillow tho!

VIDEO CLIPS ON LINE NOW - Special thanks to everyone who voted for my “Please Press 3…” movie clip – thanks to you WE ACTUALLY WON!  So yes indeed, our movie will remain on the Sundance and SciFi channel for the duration of the contest (http://www.scifi.com/exposure/winners/week06/) and then it will eventually air on NATIONAL TELEVISION in the near future… I’ve just uploaded a bunch of other videos clips including my Channel 5 tv appearance as Einer Ingvaldson and some recent TV commercials – you can view them all at http://www.myspace.com/matthewfeeney and clicking on “view my: Videos”

RAQUETBALL - I just joined the Maplewood Community Center health club today and as a member, I can bring in racquetball guests for $2.13 a game (most places charge $7 or more for a guest!)… so anyone interested in playing, please let me know!  I’m playing 3 days a week now and would love to ramp that up even more!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! - For those NOT easily offended, this is one of the first email jokes I ever received many years ago but it still cracks me up and captures the true meaning of Christmas… warning, VERY BAD LANGUAGE, not for kids or workplace listening… http://pissed-off-elves.ytmnd.com/

CLOSING - I’m looking forward to potentially the best Christmas ever… keep your fingers crossed and I hope to see y’all next year!

--Matthew

Matthew's November 1st Newsletter:

JOSEPH and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat  (Nov 3-18)  Opens this Friday, November 3rd and runs for 3 weekends at Morris Park Players in South Minneapolis.  Tickets are $10, you can buy from me in advance or at the door.  I’m playing Pharaoh (aka Elvis) and despite that fact, this is a dang good show!  www.morrisparkplayers.org for directions and further information.

Awards Presenter and Best Actor Nominee (Nov 11th)  I’ve been nominated for “Best Actor” for my performance as Fagin in last summer’s production of “OLIVER!” at Applause Community Theatre.  I’m very humbled AND excited as this is my first acting award I’ve been up for since high school… and there are a ton of other great nominees also!  Everyone who attends their show of STEEL MAGNOLIAS on November 11th, is invited to the awards ceremony and champagne gala immediately following (I can’t attend Steel Magnolias as that’s a JOSEPH performance night, but I’m zipping over as soon as I get out of costume!).  Besides being a nominee, I’ll be a presenter for one of the other evening’s awards, so it’s sure to be a great evening no matter what!  Check out  http://www.applausecommunitytheatre.com/applause/index.asp for further info/directions!

Wide Variety Theatre (Nov 14)  I’ll be performing in 2 shorts in this brilliant Showcase directed by Sandra K. Horner on Tuesday November 14th.  7pm showtime at the Hennepin Center for the Arts (528 Hennepin Avenue, 8th floor).  Tickets are $10 (industry comped).  Sandra says this is “Rated R” show, but it’s relatively tame language and situations (my worst scene is when I call someone a “frigid b!tch” etc)…. So there’s some language, but nothing that should be a problem for more mature teens when accompanied by a parent or guardian… There’s a good chance this show will be sold out, so please call 818-997-6740 or email widevtheatre@aol.com for advanced reservations.  For further info, visit http://www.sandrakhorner.com/widevarietytheatre_mpls.html

Winter Hazard Awareness Week (Nov 13-17th)   Check out the MP3 audio file of the Einer character by clicking on my photo at http://www.hsem.state.mn.us/WHAWeek/WHAW.html and keep an eye and ear out for various tv/radio guest appearances that “Einer” will be making during the week of November 13-17th!

John Trones & Jim Brickman Christmas Concert (Dec 3rd)   On December 3rd at 7pm I’ll be making my yearly “Santa” appearance on stage at the Pantages Theater with my good friend and very talented singer John Trones (with special guest Jim Brickman).  Tickets are available on-line – this is an AWESOME Christmas concert and a group of us go out for dinner before hand and get invited to the cast party afterwards – so let me know if you’d care to join us!  http://www.johntrones.com/christmasinthecity.html for further info.

Santa Visits (December)   Once again I’ll be offering personalized home Santa Visits across the state… perfect for the neighborhood Christmas party, or gathering with family/friends, office party or even roasts… It’s great fun to have Santa deliver some early presents to the kids and provide insider information on who’s been “nice” and who needs to improve a bit more before Christmas Eve!  Various times/dates available in the weeks before Christmas, cost is $75.00 which includes travel time within the Twin Cities Metro area…  Remember, this is my full-time job now, so referrals are always appreciated… and to drive home that point, if you make 2 referrals that get booked, you get a FREE visit!  Email me for bookings!

Walden Entertainment   My company is starting out strong and I’m having a blast… I’ve done extras casting for Treasure Island, fit modeling for Kohl’s, and casting for several other movies… I had 2 pre-production meetings today, including a project that COULD entail me having to go to Italy for a 12 day movie shoot the beginning of January… oh, what a terribly difficult lifestyle to get used to!  The second meeting was with someone who says they called Stephen Spielberg on his personal cell phone and they have a meeting with Mel Gibson in LA next week… in this business ya take everything with a grain of salt, but these are fun projects to talk about, even if nothing else comes of them!  I’ll also be interviewing for several volunteer internship opportunities with Walden (interested?  Email internship@walden-entertainment.com ASAP!)  And as always you can visit www.matthewfeeney.com for more current updates!

Halloween Party (October 27th, 2007)   Halloween Party IX was a HUGE success, and labeled by several as “the best one yet” – it wasn’t as crowded (probably only 100 people) but that allowed people to more easily carry on conversations and the basement was a wonderful central place to hang out!  Best Costume goes to Phillip as the Wicked Witch of the West… most creative costume goes to Jake for coming as a Tampon (or as a friend put it, he should get an award for the best “period piece costume”… EEEEEW).  Special thanks to my bestus friend Chad for setting up the live web cast on my web page, to Jo-Jo for the fantastic food, to Mom for treating for the Turkey Breasts and to my dear friend Debbie for driving down from Grand Rapids 2 days before to help me shop, clean and set-up for the party!  Next year’s party will be on Saturday, October 27th, so put it on your calendars now!  I forgot to break out my camera, so anyone with pictures, I’d sure appreciate copies of anything you got!

Well, those are the highlights for this month – believe it or not, there’s always a ton more going on “behind the scenes” and that’s what keeps life so interesting!

Til Next Time!

9/4/2006   First of all, THANKS for visiting!  For those of you who have been here before, you'll notice a whole new look and design to this site, instigated in part due to my 210lb weight loss requiring posting of new photos... In the next few weeks I'll be filling in the many remaining blank pages with photos, videos and updated info, so please be patient while I work on this page!  The most important stuff like my HEADSHOT/RESUME and the ACTOR'S AUDITION/CASTING LIST are of course the first things working... so enjoy!  --Matthew
